One Remote to Speak Them All: Unwired Things for Accessible Living

Unwired Things introduces a new suite of assistive devices powered by a single talking remote—simplifying and expanding access to everyday tools for blind users across Europe.

Craig Scott of Unwired Things unveils a unique range of accessible devices—including scales, thermometers, and a talking tape measure—connected to a centralized talking remote control. Rather than embedding speech into each product, this modular system saves cost and adds flexibility.

He explains the economic advantage of offloading speech synthesis to the remote, enabling mass-market design with accessible functionality. A color sensor, object locator, blood pressure monitor, and more are on the way. Already available across Scandinavia and parts of Europe, the products aim to be affordable and universally appealing.
