Steven and Shaun welcome three distinguished guests to delve into the future of a well-loved orientation and mobility app catered to the visually impaired, known as Soundscape Community.
Earlier this year, Microsoft decided to ‘sunset’ Soundscape. However, the source code was generously provided by the company, sparking a flurry of developers to recreate the app. Among those leading the charge is the app’s original co-founder, Jarnail Chudge.
On this edition of Double Tap, the hosts sit down with Jarnail, accompanied by David Redmond and Aiofe Buckley from the National Council for the Blind in Ireland (NCBI), who are ardently supporting this revitalization project. The conversation unveils the app’s benefits from two unique perspectives – David shares his insights as a visually impaired individual, while Aiofe, an orientation and mobility instructor, elucidates on the app’s significance in her professional domain.
