Tape It App Developers Commit To Accessibility For Blind Users

An app to give iPhone users the ability to record high quality audio directly on their smartphones has been made accessible to blind users.

Tape It was originally designed for musicians after the developers got frustrated with the way Voice Memos organised recordings, and it lacked good audio recording capabilities.

The app is used by many professional and amateur musicians today, but they have discovered that there was lots of blind people who often aren’t musicians wanting to use the app  as their photos and camera equivalent.

This led to the team working with one of their blind customers on making Tape It accessible with VoiceOver.

They say they have since made it their mission to always keep it accessible, as co-founder Thomas Walther told Steven Scott for Double Tap.
