Lutron Expands Intelligent Lighting Portfolio and Launches Affordable Smart Wood Blinds
Lutron has launched affordable smart wood blinds with natural light optimisation, expanding its intelligent lighting offerings while focusing on wellness, accessibility, and seamless smart home integration.
The expansion follows a strong 2025, which included two acquisitions to strengthen its intelligent lighting portfolio. “Last year we acquired a company in the UK called Orluna, and earlier this year another in the intelligent lighting space,” said Melissa Andresko, Chief Corporate Brand Ambassador for Lutron, speaking to Marc Aflalo on Double Tap Mainstream. “The adoption of intelligent lighting has been tremendous, as homeowners increasingly focus on wellness and creating spa-like environments.”
At CES 2026, Lutron introduced its smart wood blinds to the Serena line, offering motorised window treatments made from North American basswood. The blinds feature Natural Light Optimisation, automatically adjusting slats based on the sun’s position to reduce glare and heat. Available for windows up to 48 by 80 inches, these battery-powered blinds integrate with the Caséta ecosystem, supporting HomeKit, Amazon Echo, and Google Home.
“Motorised blinds used to be a luxury reserved for high-end homes,” Melissa explained. “At $429, we’re making solutions that protect floors, furniture, and comfort far more attainable.” She also emphasised the accessibility benefits, noting that remote and voice control can give users with limited mobility greater independence in managing light and privacy.
Lutron’s 2026 Luxury Residential Trend Report indicates that 43% of surveyed homeowners now consider lighting one of the most important elements of home design, driven by a desire for flexible, wellness-oriented, and often invisible technology solutions.
