Kapsys Announce New KapX Headset

In this episode of Double Tap, Steven Scott and Shaun Preece speak with Aram Hekimian, CEO of Kapsys, about the newly announced KapX headset. Aram shares that CapX was developed to address the mobility needs of the visually impaired community, noting, “There is approximately 40 million blind and 280 million people with severe visual impairment, but only 200,000 guide dogs in the world.” KapX features a headset with a built-in camera and a processing box that operates without internet connectivity, providing four hours of use.

Aram explains that the KapX uses air conduction instead of bone conduction, enhancing comfort during extended wear and enabling accurate 3D spatial audio for obstacle detection. “We guide users to avoid obstacles, not just on the ground but at all heights, using 3D TTS to describe scenes concisely,” he says. The device maps the environment in 3D using a single camera, with decisions made every 200 milliseconds for real-time navigation.

The KapX runs AI models on-device and supports Bluetooth connectivity with smartphones, allowing users to listen to music or use navigation apps while receiving audio instructions from the headset. Aram confirms that Kapsys will provide free software updates with no subscription fees, stating, “Our business model has always been buy the product and forget the difficulties, and we will always be there to resolve issues.”

KapX is expected to launch between June and September 2025 at an estimated price of €3000, with compatibility across iPhone and Android devices. Aram also hints at a future AI-driven Smart Vision Pro phone in development. Learn more at kapsys.com.
