Get Moving With Moovit
In this episode of Double Tap on YouTube, Steven Scott interviews Ziv Kabareti, the VP of Products at Moovit, to discuss the app’s features, data integration, accessibility, and future developments with AI.
Moovit is a leading app that assists users worldwide in navigating public transportation, aiming to make it more accessible and reduce the anxiety associated with using transit systems. The app provides information on how to get from point A to point B, transit modes available, pickup times, and estimated arrival times. Moovit operates in approximately 3,500 cities across more than 110 countries, claiming to have the most accurate and extensive public transportation repository compared to its competitors.
Moovit’s interface and information are designed to be accessible to users with disabilities, including those who are blind or visually impaired. The app leverages smartphone technologies like voiceover and TalkBack to provide additional context and text for users who rely on these features, enhancing their understanding and ease of use. Moovit also includes information on accessible stops and vehicles for individuals with mobility challenges and offers direct connections to services that assist disabled passengers in certain regions.
The app’s developers are continually working to improve accessibility by incorporating user feedback and conducting tests with groups of people with impairments. Additionally, Moovit is exploring the use of AI to further improve the user experience, making information more understandable and streamlining interactions with the app. AI is also being considered to condense and clarify service alerts from transit providers, providing users with the most critical information.
