BetterHelp: Online Therapy
Please note: Double Tap does not endorse, recommend, or promote any specific therapists, services, or providers within this or any other app. Users are encouraged to conduct their own research and make informed decisions based on their individual needs. Today’s featured App of the Week is BetterHelp, an application designed to connect users with local or online therapists. Available on both iOS and Android, the app itself is free to download, but therapy services range from $60 to $90 per week depending on the type of professional, such as psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, or family counselors. The higher the therapist’s education and experience, the higher the fee.
Users can choose between in-person sessions or online options, including video chats and phone calls. Although BetterHelp is based in the United States, it serves users globally, provided they opt for remote therapy. Billing occurs every four weeks, and matching with a therapist requires completing a detailed questionnaire, which takes about 45 minutes to an hour. The app ensures accessibility throughout the process, from the questionnaire to selecting a therapist based on credentials, style, and philosophy.
All therapists hold at least a master’s degree and have a minimum of three years’ experience. While the reviewer hasn’t personally used BetterHelp, they mention knowing psychologists who do, noting its effectiveness and how it can offer the same benefits as in-person therapy due to the comfort and convenience it provides.
