Paige Launches Simple Video Calling Frame to Support People with Dementia and Their Families

A new video communication device designed to help people experiencing cognitive decline stay connected with their families has been developed. The Paige Frame simplifies video calling to a single tap, removing passwords, menus, and complex interfaces. The product aims to reduce isolation and stress for both users and caregivers.

Paige is a large-format digital clock and photo frame that doubles as a video calling device. Up to six family members’ faces can be displayed on the frame, allowing the user to initiate a connection by simply tapping the image.

“The people who need this most are often left behind by modern technology,” Bob Millar, the creator of Paige Frame, explained in the Double Tap Mainstream interview. “They don’t remember passwords, can’t manage apps, and just need a simple way to stay connected.”

The device comes with an optional mobile app for relatives, enabling automatic or manual video connections. For individuals in assisted living or long-term care, Paige provides a “window in” for family and support staff, with an administrator managing contact permissions and call settings.

Privacy has been a key focus. Calls only open when initiated by the frame or approved contacts, and there is no constant camera monitoring. In enterprise settings, such as care homes, Paige integrates with support teams to conduct scheduled or ad hoc video calls under existing privacy policies.

Paige is priced at $599, with a current pre-order offer of $399. An optional £12.99 monthly subscription unlocks features like auto-answering and future updates. A cellular-enabled model with SIM support is also available.

The company is preparing to release an updated version in the coming weeks and plans to integrate sensor and AI features to help monitor cognitive changes and improve home care support.

Paige addresses a growing need as more people with dementia or cognitive decline wish to age in place. By simplifying communication, it reduces caregiver stress, fosters family connection, and complements the limited resources in care facilities.
