In a recent demonstration from the team behind the popular Microsoft Seeing AI app, Saqib Sheikh showcased the indoor navigation feature. The app, designed for visually impaired people, uses artificial intelligence to provide real-time assistance and information.
In the demo, Saqib walks through the steps of creating a new route within the app. He starts by selecting the “indoor navigation” option from the help menu. Next, he adds a new route from his current room to the kitchen. To create the route, he must slowly turn in a circle while tilting their phone up and down to capture the surrounding area. Once the starting point is captured, Saqib enters a descriptive name for the route and continues to the destination. As he walks through his home, the app provides audio guidance, describing his surroundings and directing him to the kitchen.
